BALI EXPLORER – April 15th to 23rd’ 2017

Day 1: April 15th: Ubud
Arrive in Bali. Transfer to Ubud. Ubud is Bali’s cultural hub, a seductive town set amid terraced rice paddies and known for its talented classical dancers and musicians, and for its prolific painters and craftspeople. Tradition is particularly important here and temple festivals happen almost daily. It’s also home to good restaurants, cafes, and streets of shops, many selling goods from the region’s artisans. In the evening explore the market at Ubud. Overnight at Ubud.
Day 2: April 16th: Ubud
Today we explore Ubud town, walk around the market, go on a light walk through the ridge and paddy fields, visit temples and museums and relax. Overnight at Ubud.
Day 3: April 17th: Ubud – Tanah Lot – Uluwatu – Jimbaran – Ubud
After breakfast visit Gunung Lebah Temple and Saraswati Temple. After lunch, we leave for a half day tour visiting two beautiful temples, Tanah Lot Temple and Uluwatu Temple. Tanah Lot temple is built on a huge rock about three acres in size and 20 meters into the sea and Uluwatu Temple sits on a 70-meter-high cliff protruding above the sea. Both are very impressive Balinese temples at beautiful locations. Later around sunset, we have a beautiful Balinese cultural experience witnessing the Kecak Dance Performance. Kecak is a traditional Balinese dance drama performance depicting a battle of the Ramayana and is primarily performed by men. Afterward, we head to Jimbaran for dinner where the beach literally turns into an open air restaurant by evening. Later drive back to Ubud and overnight at Ubud. Later drive back to Ubud and overnight at Ubud.
Day 4: April 18th: Ubud – Jatiluwih – Ulun Danu Beratan – Sekumpul – Munduk
After breakfast head out to the highlands of central Bali. Our first stop on the way is Jatiluwih Rice Terraces. Jatiluwih Rice Terraces have been declared a UNESCO heritage site and is spread out over a large area, set in a beautiful valley with rice terraces that have been built into the sides of the mountains and follow the natural contours of the hills. Next, we visit Ulun Danu Beratan Temple. Not only is the temple in itself beautiful but its located in the most spectacular settings on the banks of Lake Beratan.The location of the temple at a lake surrounded by misty mountains makes it a serene and peaceful place to visit. After lunch head out to Sekumpul waterfalls.This 100 meter high waterfall is quite secluded and less touristy, hidden away in the Balinese forest. A half an hour short hike through beautiful mountain villages gets you to this beautiful twin waterfalls. Later take the scenic drive to Munduk along banks of Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan. Overnight at Munduk.
Day 5: April 19th: Munduk – Banjar – Lovina
The simple village of Munduk is one of Bali’s most appealing mountain hideout. It has a cool misty ambiance set among lush hillsides covered with jungle, rice fields, spice plantations, fruit trees and pretty much anything else that grows on the island. Waterfalls tumble off precipices by the dozen. It Is the perfect destination for experiencing nature and village life at its best. After breakfast walk through the fields and plantations and visit Munduk and Melanting waterfalls. Take a cold shower under the falls before heading off to Lovina via Banjar passing through some of the most beautiful drives on the tour. At Banjar relax at the hot springs before getting to Lovina beach to catch the sunset views. Overnight at Lovina.
Day 6: April 20th: Lovina – Amed
Today is a day with the sea. Rise early in the morning for a Dolphin watching tour off the coast of Lovina. Take a boat ride into the sea and watch schools of dolphins swimming around. As soon as the sun starts to rise, and the orange color of the sky reflects on the sea, the dolphins appear. If you are lucky, they will sometimes swim, jump and play just next to your boat. Later after breakfast, we drive along the coastal road from north to east to arrive at Amed. In Amed and the surrounding villages of Congkang, Jemeluk and Culik life revolves around fishing and salt production. Amed has some of the best diving/snorkeling locations in Bali. Afternoon head for Jemeluk bay and beach. Hire a snorkel and go snorkeling or you also have the option of sea kayaking and stand up paddling. Overnight at Amed.
Day 7: April 21st: Amed – Sanur – Kuta
After breakfast visit Jemeluk lookout point. Jemeluk’s eastern headland provides a fantastic scenic vantage point that affords views of the turquoise waters of the bay with the grand Mount Agung rising behind it. Later visit Lpiah beach. On the way to Sanur, we stop at Padang Bai fishing village. Padang Bai is a very picturesque village, with semi-circular hills surrounding a sparkling blue bay. We spend some time at the serene and beautiful Blue Lagoon bay and beach with its turquoise blue waters. Late afternoon leave for Sanur and spend the evening watching the sunset at Sanur beach. Once the sun sets we explore the Sanur night Market. Drive to Kuta after dinner. Overnight at Kuta.
Day 8: April 22nd – Kuta
Kuta is the hub of mass tourism in Bali with all the requisite shopping streets, malls, restaurants, cafes, massage parlors and discos. Today is a free day to explore Kuta and Kuta beach. Kuta beach, a beautiful long stretch of wide sandy beach, is the place that put Bali on the map, and a must visit during your stay in the area. Here, tourists and locals alike come together to surf and take evening strolls, making for a perpetually relaxed and fun-loving atmosphere. If it’s retail therapy, massage, culinary experiences or partying you’re looking for, all there within walking distance. Overnight at Kuta.
Day 9: April 23rd – Departure
After breakfast drop to airport. End of trip.
